National organizations that provide financial assistance to pet owners in need. Please keep in mind that each organization is independent and has their own set of rules and guidelines. Therefore you will have to investigate each one separately to determine if you qualify for assistance:
- Angels 4 Animals - Angels 4 Animals, a nonprofit organization, works in conjunction with veterinary clinics across the country. Their services range from financial aid to complete treatment to those pets and pet owners in need.
- The Big Hearts Fund (financial assistance for the diagnosis and treatment of canine and feline heart disease):
- The Binky Foundation - The Binky Foundation is a private charitable organization dedicated to the protection of domestic and wild animals and the protection and expansion of their habitats.
- Brown Dog Foundation (prescription medications) - provides funding to families who find themselves with a sick pet that would likely respond to treatment, but due to unforeseen circumstances, there is not enough money to afford the care

- Care Credit - Care Credit is a credit card company for health care, including veterinary care. You may apply by calling (800) 677-0718
- Cats In Crisis - Cats in Crisis Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cats and kittens with special medical needs receive the veterinary treatment they need to live happy, healthy lives.
- Dachshund World Charities - A US 501 (3) (c) Charity. Accepting donations to assist dachshunds and their owners in need of financial assistance for vet care. Application for Funding.
- The Dog & Cat Cancer Fund - At the Dog & Cat Cancer Fund we help fight canine and feline cancer.
- God's Creatures Ministry Veterinary Charity - Working for a Peaceful World for Humans, Animals and the Environment
- Fairy Dog Parents - Their mission is preventing dogs from being surrendered.
- Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance (FVEAP) - provides financial assistance to cat and kitten guardians who are unable to afford veterinary services to save their companions when life-threatening illness or injury strikes. Applications can be downloaded at www.fveap.org and faxed to (888) 301-4264 or emailed as attachment to [email protected]
- In Memory of Magic (IMOM) (CLOSED as of June 2016) is dedicated to insuring that no companion animal has to be euthanized simply because their caretaker is financially challenged. IMOM has no sponsors and funds come from private donors who are willing to reach out and give someone's pet the chance they deserve to live a long, healthy life. Phone (866)-230-2164
- Magic Bullet Fund (cancer-specific) - Those who can afford to provide cancer treatment are fortunate. Those who cannot need our help.
- The Mosby Fund - The Mosby Foundation has been established in loving memory of Mosby, a Malamute - Husky mix who was intentionally shot and killed on August 8, 2003. His memory will live forever in our hearts.
- The Onyx & Breezy Foundation - The Foundation was formed in 2004 by Mark and Wanda Shefts to honor the memory of their two Labrador retrievers.
- Paws 4 A Cure - Paws 4 A Cure is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families that are in need of non-routine veterinary financial assistance* for their dog or cat.
- Pet Food Stamps - CURRENTLY A DISCONTINUED PROGRAM - The Pet Food Stamps program, a registered NYS nonprofit corporation, has been created to fill the void in the United States Food Stamp program which excludes the purchase of pet food and pet supplies.
- The Pet Fund - The Pet Fund is a registered 501(c) (3) nonprofit association that provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals who need veterinary care. Often animals are put down or suffer needlessly because their owners cannot afford expensive surgery or medical treatment. Companion animal owners must often make the difficult decision to put an animal down or neglect medical needs because of the costs involved.

- RedRover Relief - Founded in 1987, the mission of RedRover is to bring animals out of crisis and strengthen the bond between people and animals through emergency sheltering, disaster relief services, financial assistance and education. RedRover accomplishes its mission by engaging volunteers and supporters, collaborating with others and maximizing the use of online technology.
- Rose’s Fund - At Rose's Fund we are sensitive to the fact that it takes more than love to save a life, and all animals deserve a chance. We will financially assist, to the best of our ability, pet owners and Good Samaritans who have an animal with a good prognosis for a healthy life, but are at a financial loss.
- Shakespeare Animal Fund - Shakespeare Animal Fund, a nonprofit charity was founded after the loss of a beloved Cocker Spaniel "Shakespeare". He died after a very costly illness, and in his memory this fund was founded to help others who might face financial problems while trying to save their pet. Let Shakespeare help you!
- Top Dog Foundation “Bentley Grant” - As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, Top Dog Foundation has three service programs
IN CANADA
The Farley Foundation - Established by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) in 2002, the Farley Foundation assists people in need by subsidizing the cost of veterinary care for their sick/injured pets.
BCSPCA (THE BRITISH COLUMBIA SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS) - The BC SPCA Vancouver Animal Hospital offers an assistance program for people on low income. If you qualify for financial aid, it will cover up to 33% of the cost of surgery at their clinic. Please note however, the BC SPCA does NOT provide financial aid to have procedures done at other vet clinics. For more information, please email BCSPCA.
Pet Card Canada - Petcard is a simple and affordable way to finance veterinary treatments and products.
Our recommendation for a long-term solution would be to look into insurance coverage with Trupanion or Embrace pet insurance. With pet health insurance, you'll be able to remove the stress and worry of unexpected medical costs and provide your pet with the best medical care possible, at a low monthly premium.
